I have added a new section called 'For Sale' to my blog - if you are here please stop by and have a look.  I will be adding to this so do come back again from time to time!

Friday 6 December 2013

Friday again already - have finished the wizard gourds this last week, Xmas decorated a bauble and wine glass in Weds class and today, started a lovely poinsettia canvas inspired by a Brenda Stewart design.  I don't actually like the real ones, much prefer the artistically licensed ones.

Looking forward to getting the studio into some semblance of order over the Xmas break and painting up a few projects ready for the new year classes.

Stuart's painting is 99% finished - just need to varnish.  I am thrilled with it as it is the hardest project ever for me but makes me feel I can tackle anything now!  Studying the photo with such intensity has caused so many headaches!  Will be trying to upload a photo of him posing with it on Xmas day.

Getting excited!

We are finishing off the gourds tomorrow - photos to follow so watch this space!

Sunday 17 November 2013

Busy preparing for a one day workshop on Thursday - we are doing a one day workshop - a wizard on a gourd which was designed by Vicki Nicholson over 10 years ago with one of my painting friends, Angi Miles.  It uses Jo Sonja paints and was quite tricky from what I remember but I have just dug out the instructions and it looks ok.

Below is the one I painted and almost, but not quite, finished!  Anyway you will get the idea...Should be a fun day

Soldier Boy goes to a new home for Christmas.  Painted this in July in the grounds of Windsor Castle, The Long Walk.  It was boiling hot even in the shade of the trees.  I am not too keen on painting outside due to the weather, there is always something wrong with it as far as I'm concerned, mainly the breeze!

Well everyone today absolutely HATED doing their own wolf drawing and I thought they would get such a great sense of achievement!  How wrong could I actually be!!!

In the end I couldn't listen to the moans any longer and gave them each a tracing - only one brave lady used her own work.  Anyway we mostly completed the eyes and they went home happy...

Tuesday 12 November 2013

Tomorrow, we are drawing a wolf, properly, before tracing the outline and then painting.  I have been waiting for my ladies to finish their holidays before starting this class project all together...Here is one I prepared earlier:

This one is actually too pretty but it will be our class model!  I am working to make my wolf look less pretty but am pleased with the eyeballs and the nose.  Much like a dogs nose and completely different to cats, including the big ones like lions and tigers!
More snow in the studio today - found a much better way to add spatter snow flakes!
